Ingredients

- 1 small cup Toor Dal
- 1/2 cup chopped Green Beans
- 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
- Salt to taste
For Paste :
- 1/2 sp Coriander Seeds
- 1/2 sp Chana Dal
- 1/2 sp Urad dal
- 1/2 sp Rice
- 1/4 sp Black Pepper Corns
- fistful dry Coconut Pieces
- 2″ inches Tamarind Flake
- 3 Red Chillies
- 1/2 sp Oil
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 sp Urad Dal
- 1 Red Chilli
- 1 pinch Hing
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil
Instructions
Trim the ends and cut beans into 2 inches pieces, wash well toor dal, beans and pressure cook for 3 whistles, once done remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, heat 1/2 sp oil in a pan add above paste ingredients and fry (except coconut, tamarind flake) until brown in color, then remove from the flame and allow it to cool.
Once cooled, grind them into paste along with coconut and tamarind with enough water and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves and fry, then add in ground paste and stir.
Add 1/2 cup of water to the mixer jar and mix well, then pour into pan. Add turmeric powder and cook for a couple of mins. Then add in cooked beans dal mixture and mix well.
Add enough salt and mix well, continue to cook for a couple of mins. Now green beans kootu is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot with rice or roti.
