Ingredients
For Plain Idiappam :
- 1 cup Rice Flour
- 1 cup Water
- enough Salt
- 2 sp Ghee
For Lemon Idiappam :
- 2 sp Lemon Juice
- 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
- 2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 sp Chana Dal
- 1/2 sp Urad Dal
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 4-5 Cashew Nuts
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- 1 pinch Hing
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil
Instructions
Take a bowl add rice flour, salt, 1 sp ghee and mix well. In the meantime bring 1 cup water to a boil in a bowl. Once it is boiling switch off the flame.
Pour the hot boiled water into the rice flour and stir it carefully with a spoon and keep aside for 5 mins, after that make a dough with hand. Now idiyappam dough is ready.
Fill the dough into the idiyappam press/sanna muruku press and close the lid, then press it onto the greased plate and steam cook for 8 -10 mins. Once done remove from the heat and let it cool.
Once cooled crumbled the sevai gently and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, then add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry for a while.
Add in turmeric powder, cooked and crumbled idiyappam and mix it well, add freshly squeezed lime juice, enough salt and mix well.
Mix until the idiyappam is well coated evenly, turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl. Now lemon idiyappam is ready to serve, serve it as a breakfast or as a light snack.
