Ingredients
- 1 bunch Avise aaku/Flax Leaves
- 2 sp Chana Dal/Bengal Gram
- 2 sp grated Fresh Coconut
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- enough Salt
For Popu :
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Red Chilli
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp OIl
Instructions
Wash and soak chana dal for 20 mins and keep aside. Pluck the avise leaves from the stems and wash them thoroughly. Cook the avise leaves along with turmeric powder and enough salt, when done strain and keep aside. Allow it to cool for a while, then squeeze the cooked leaves and keep aside.
In the meantime, cook soaked chana dal for 15 mins or until soft, then remove to a plate and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked flax leaves/avise aaku and fry for a while. Then add cooked chana dal and stir.
Add in fresh coconut, red chilli powder and mix very well, continue to cook for a couple of mins on low flame with cover. Now Avise Akku Chana Dal Fry is ready, transfer to a serving bowl and serve, serve with rice and roti.
