Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor Dal
- 1/4 cup chopped Vakkayalu
- 2 Green Chillies chopped
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
- Salt to taste
For Popu :
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 pinch Hing
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil
Instructions
Wash vakkayalu/cranberries well, half cut them and remove the inner seeds. In the mean time, wash and pressure cook toor dal and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry for a few secs. Then add in chopped vakkayalu.
Mix well and cook them with little water until soft.
Then add cooked toor dal, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, enough salt and mix well. Add 1/4 cup of water and cook for a couple of mins on medium flame. Lastly add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Turn off the flame, now vakkaya pappu is ready, transfer to a bowl and serve.
