- 1 small cup Moong Dal/Pesara Pappu/Green Gram
- 11/2 cup Jaggery
- 1 cup Whole Milk (boiled)
- 1 sp Elaichi Powder
- few chopped Cashew Nuts
- 2 sp Raisins
- 2 sp Dry Coconut Pieces
- 4 sp Ghee
Dry roast moong dal for a while, then transfer the moong dal in a pressure cooker and wash well. Add 3 cups of water + 1 sp Ghee and pressure cook for 3 whistle, once done turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
Once cooled remove the lid and transfer the cooked moong dal to a bowl and keep aside.
Combine jaggery and 1/2 cup of water in a pan. Boil on medium heat until the jaggery dissolves completely.
Remove from the heat and strain the jaggery syrup into the cooked moong dal bowl and mix well, continue to cook for a couple of mins.
Heat remaining ghee in a small pan fry cashews, raisins and coconut slivers, then pour over the moong dal payasam. Add elaichi powder and mix well, at this stage turn off the flame.
Add milk and mix everything well. Now yummy and tasty moong dal payasam/kheer is ready to offer as naivedyam for Goddess Lakshmi Devi.
After that transfer into serving bowls and serve, it can be served hot or cold.
