Ingredients

For Dough :

  • 1/2 cup Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 cup All purpose Flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 sp Oil

For Poli :

  • 3 sp Wheat flour for dusting
  • Ghee for poli frying

For Stuffing :

  • 1 cup Sesame Seeds/Nuvvulu
  • 3/4 cup Jaggery
  • 2 sp Besan/Gram Flour
  • 1 sp Elaichi Powder
  • 1 sp Ghee

Instructions

Make a soft dough with above dough ingredients and keep aside for 20 mins. After that knead well and make equal sized balls.

Heat a kadai add sesame seeds and dry roast for a couple of mins on medium flame until light brown in color, then remove to a bowl.

Heat ghee to the same pan, when hot add besan and fry-stirring continuously on low heat till it gives good aroma and then transfer to a bowl.

Now combine fried sesame seeds, elaichi powder, besan and blend into powder.

Add in jaggery and blend it again into powder, then transfer into a mixing bowl and mix well with hand. Now the poli stuffing is ready.

Take a dough ball and press into a small puri, then place 2 sp stuffing(nuvvula mixture) in the middle and close it carefully with the filling.

Then coat the stuffed dough ball with wheat flour on both sides and roll it gently into a round shaped chapathi with a rolling pin.

Meanwhile, heat tawa over medium heat, once hot place the rolled poli on the hot tawa and cook both sides with ghee, once done remove to plate from the hot tawa. Repeat with the remaining dough balls and filling. Now festival recipe nuvvula bobbatlu/til poli are ready to serve.
