Ingredients

  • 1 cup Thick Poha/Beaten Rice/Atukulu
  • small Marble size Tamarind
  • 1/2 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
  • 1 sp Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 sp Chana Dal
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Hingh
  • fistful Peanuts
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak poha for 2 mins and then squeeze extra water from them and set aside. Wash and soak tamarind for half cup of water for 5 mins and then squeeze out the juice and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry for a while. Then add turmeric powder, tamarind juice, salt, jaggery to this and bring to a boil.
  3. Once the tamarind mixture turns thick, then add squeezed poha and mix well until well combined. Now tamarind poha/atukula pulihora is ready to serve. Offer the tamarind poha as naivedyam to Lord Sri Krishna during krishnashtami festival.
