For Paste : For Popu : Wash, peel the skin of the raw papaya and cut it into half (seedless) then chop into small pieces. Wash toor dal in a bowl and place chopped green papaya/pachi boppai and pressure cook for 3 whistles. In the meantime, heat 1/2 sp oil in a pan add chana dal, urad dal, pepper corn and fry for a couple of mins, then add green chillies and fry for a while. Remove from the flame and allow it to cool. Once cooled, grind them into paste along with fresh coconut with enough water. Keep aside. Heat oil in a khadai add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves and fry, then add in ground paste and stir. Add 1/2 cup of water to the mixer jar and mix well, then pour into pan and cook. Next add in cooked dal mixture and mix well, add salt, turmeric powder and let it cook for a couple of mins on medium flame, then turn off the flame. Now tasty raw papaya kootu/green papaya lentil stew is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve with rice or roti.Ingredients
