Dal Bonda Recipe / Dal Punugulu / Chana Dal and Moong Dal Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Chana Dal
  • 1 small cup Moong Dal
  • 2 sp Besan/Gram Flour
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 inches Ginger pieces
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • 1 sp chopped Coriander Leaves
  • 1 sp curry Leaves
  • enough Salt
  • Oil for deep Fry

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chana dal, moong dal in water for at least an hour and drain well.
  2. Grind chopped ginger, green chillies, soaked dals into a paste and transfer in a mixing bowl, then add salt, cumin seeds, besan, chopped coriander, curry leaves and mix thoroughly, now the punugulu batter is ready.
  3. Heat oil in a pan for deep fry, when hot take small amount of the batter and drop into hot oil and fry. Fry them until they turn golden brown in color, then remove from the oil and place them onto a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  4. Now dal punugulu/bondalu are ready. It is very simple to make and also a naivedyam recipe for varalakshmi vratham or Vinayaka Chavithi festival. Once the dumplings are ready, serve hot with any chutney.
