Bellam Pongali Recipe / Sweet Pongal / Annam Paramannam

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 11/4 cup Jaggery
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • few Dry Fruits
  • 2 sp Ghee

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and pressure cook with three cups of water.
  2. Let it cool for some time and remove the lid and mash it well.
  3. Now boil 1/2 cup of water and add grated jaggery into it and allow it to boil.
  4. Once the jaggery dissolved in the water, then strain the jaggery water.
  5. Again boil the jaggery water and make a thick syrup, now add cooked rice, elaichi powder and mix well.
  6. Add ghee and stir well, continue to cook for a couple of mins, then turn off the flame.
  7. Transfer into a serving bowl and add chopped dry fruits. Now bellam pongali is ready for naivedyam to Goddess Durga Devi.
