Rava Idly / Suji / semolina Idly - Easy Idli Recipes

  • 1 cup Semolina / Bombay Rava
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 2 sp grated Carrot
  • chopped Green Chillies
  • 1 sp chopped Ginger Pieces
  • 2 sp Cashew Nut Pieces
  • chopped Corinder Leaves
  • chopped Curry Leaves
  • 1 pinch Cooking Soda
  • 1 sp Fruit Salt
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Put 1 cup of plain yogurt in a bowl and whisk until smooth and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry next add cashew nut pieces and stir.
  3. Add chopped green chillies, ginger, curry leaves and stir then add suji and mix well.
  4. Roast it on medium flame until it turn light brown color and then turn off the flame.
  5. Transfer it to a plate and allow to cool for some time and add fried semolina to curd.
  6. Add salt, chopped coriander leaves, grated carrot, enough water and mix well.
  7. Keep the batter aside for 20 mins then add fruit salt, cooking soda and mix properly.
  8. Grease the idly plate with oil and add the batter in the idly plates.
  9. Steam in a idly cooker for 10-12 mins or till the idlis are cooked.
  10. Remove the idly plates from heat & allow it to cool.
  11. Semolina idlis are ready to serve, serve with coconut chutney.
