Lavanga Latika Recipe – How to make Lavanga Latika – Diwali Special Sweet
Ingredients
- 1 cup All purpose Flour/Maida
- 2 sp Ghee/Dalda
- 1/4 sp Cooking Soda
- 6 Cloves/Lavangalu
- 1 pinch Salt
- Oil for deep fry
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
- 1 cup Water for syrup
- 3 sp Sweet Kova
- 2 sp finely chopped Dry Fruits

Instructions
- Take all purpose flour in a mixing bowl add cooking soda, little salt, ghee and mix well. Then add enough water and make into a smooth dough, cover the dough and allow it to rest for at least 30 mins. After that knead the dough and divide into small lemon sized balls.
- In a small bowl add sweet kova, chopped dry fruits and mix well. In the meantime, boil sugar and water together to make it into a syrup (one string) add elaichi powder and keep aside.
- Take one ball of the dough and roll into a small puri, then put 1 sp kova stuffing in the center, fold the puri two sides overlapping each other. Again overlap the remaining two sides to form a pocket and press it gently with a clove. Repeat the remaining puris, see the picture given below.
- Heat oil in a pan, when hot fry them on low flame till they turn golden brown in color from all the side.Then drop them into the sugar syrup. Let it sit for a few minutes in sugar syrup.
- Remove from the syrup and place on to a plate to dry, Now diwali sweet recipe, lavanga latika are ready to serve, when cool store them in an airtight container.
