Mixed Dal Bath Recipe / Mixed Dal Khichdi / Rice and Lentils Bhat

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 2 sp Toor Dal
  • 2 sp Chana Dal
  • 2 sp Moong Dal
  • 2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 3 Green Ghillies slit lengthwise
  • 2 sp chopped Ginger
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 inches Cinnamon Stick
  • 4 Cloves
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • chopped Mint Leaves
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice and lentils in a bowl for at least 15 mins and keep aside, In the mean time chop the onion, ginger and green chillies.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add cloves, cinnamon pieces and fry for a while, add chopped green chillies, ginger, curry leaves and stir-fry for 30 secs. Then add chopped onion and fry until they become soft, now add in chopped coriander, mint leaves and stir.
  3. Add soaked rice and dal mixture, turmeric powder and mix very well. Fry them on low-medium flame for 1 min and turn off the flame.
  4. Now transfer them to a bowl and pressure cook along with salt and 4 cups of water for 4 whistles. Once done turn off the flame and let it leave for cool.
  5. Remove the lid and mix well, now mixed dal bath/mixed dal khichdi is ready to serve, serve hot with sambar or fresh curd.
