Ingredients

  • 1 no Drumstick/Munakkaya
  • 1 cup Curd/Yogurt
  • 2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 sp Garam Masala Powder
  • 11/2 sp Besan/Gram Flour
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel drumstick and cut into small pieces and cook them with little salt until tender and keep aside.
  2. Combine the curd, besan, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Add in 1 cup of water and blend well till smooth like thick butter milk and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry for 30 secs.
  5. Then pour the buttermilk mixture and cook on medium flame until the raw smell gone, stirring continuously.
  6. Then add cooked drumstick pieces, chopped coriander leaves, garam masala powder and mix well and simmer for 5 mins.
  7. When done turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl, now drumstick buttermilk stew is ready, serve hot with steamed rice and papad.
