Ingredients

  • 1 Bangalore Vankaya/Chow chow/seema vankaya
  • 1 Tomato chopped finely
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli slit lengthwise
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • enough Salt
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Chana Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 2 sp Oil
  • few chopped Coriander Leaves
  • few Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel chow chow and cut into small pieces, heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  2. Once done add curry leaves, green chillies, onion and stir-fry until the onion is transparent.
  3. Add finely chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft, then add chow chow pieces and mix well.
  4. Add milk and stir, cover and cook on medium heat for 5 mins until the pieces are tender, then add turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and mix it well.
  5. Add little water if needed, cover and cook till the curry is completely done, add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Now chow chow milk curry is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve with rice and roti.
