Ingredients

    For Dough :
  • 1/2 cup All purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Wheat Flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 sp Oil
  • enough Water
  • For Stuffing :
  • 1 cup Chana Dal/Bengal Gram
  • 1/4 cup fresh Coconut
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • Oil for deep fry

Instructions

  1. Wash and pressure cook chana dal for 3 whistles, once done turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
  2. Meanwhile, In a bowl add above dough ingredients and mix well, then add enough water and make a soft dough & keep aside for 15 mins.
  3. Once cooled, strain the cooked dal and grind them into a paste, boil sugar with 1/4 cup of water, then add in ground dal paste, grated coconut, elaichi powder and cook on medium flame.
  4. Keep stirring frequently, once the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan then turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
  5. Divide the dal mixture and flour dough into equal sized balls, flatten the dough ball into a small size puri, then place the dal ball on the puri & cover the edges carefully.
  6. Roll the stuffed ball into a medium sized puri, do the same with the remaining stuffed balls and deep fry them in hot oil until done.
  7. Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel, now diwali sweet and tasty recipe puran puri is ready, serve hot or cool.
