Kanda Palak Curry / Elephant Yam Spinach Sabji / Suran and Spincah Gravy Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Kanda Gadda Pieces/Yam Pieces/Suran
  • 2 cups chopped Palakura/Spinach
  • 2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 sp Tamarind Pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli
  • Curry Leaves
  • 4 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Combine yam pieces, chopped palakura and cook on stove top or pressure cooker.
  2. Let it cool for some time then remove the lid & mash the cooked yam mix.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add green chillies, curry leaves and stir.
  4. Add tamarind juice, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and stir well.
  5. Cook for couple mins on low flame, then add cooked yam mixture & mix very well.
  6. Let it cook for 2-3 mins and turn off the flame, kanda palak curry is ready to serve, serve with rice or roti.
