Thotakura Gongura Pulusu / Amaranth Sorrel Leaves Stew Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup chopped Sorrel Leaves / Gongura
- 1/2 cup chopped Thotakura / Amaranth Leaves
- fistful Chana Dal /Bengal Gram
- 1/2 sp Tamarind Paste
- 2 Green Chillies chopped
- 1 Onion chopped
- 1 Tomato chopped
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 sp Urad Dal
- 1 Red Chilli
- 1 pinch Inguva / Hing
- 2 sp Oil

Instructions
- Wash and soak chana dal for 10 min and keep aside.
- Put leafy vegetables, chopped green chillis, tomato, soaked chana dal in a pressure cooker add 1/2 cup of water and cook for 3 whistles, When done turn off the flame and allow it to cool.
- Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add chopped onion and stir-fry the onions until it turns light pink add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and stir.
- Then add cooked gongura chana dal mix, tamarind paste, salt and mix it well, cook for couple of mins and turn off the flame.
- Now gongura thotakura pulusu is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve it with rice or roti.
