Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp Tamarind Paste(optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Pinch Inguva/Hing
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash toor dal and pressure cook along with tomatoes and green chillies, let it cool for some time, then remove from the cooker and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves and fry for a while. Then add cooked dal mixture and mix well.
  3. Add in red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and let it cook for 5 mins on low to medium heat.
  4. Finally add chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix it well then transfer into a serving bowl, now tomato dal/tomato pappu is ready to serve, serve with rice or roti.
