Chow Chow Dal with Moong Dal / Seema Vankaya Tiyya Pappu / Bangalore Vankaya Dal

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Moong Dal/Pesara Pappu
  • 1 no Chow Chow/Sema Vankaya
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 2 sp Lemon Juice
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/4 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hing / Inguva
  • 4 Garllic Cloves
  • Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel seem vankaya/chow chow and cut into small pieces. Combine and pressure cook dal, green chillies, chow chow pieces. Let the cooker cool remove the lid and mash it.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry. When they splutter add curry leaves, crushed garlic cloves and fry for a while Then add in cooked dal mixture, salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Mix well and continue to cook for a couple of mins, then turn off the flame. Now add lemon juice and mix everything well. Now seema vankaya tiyya pappu is ready. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve with rice and roti.
