Potlakaya Pappu / Snake Gourd Tomato Dal - Dal Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  • 1 cup chopped Potlakaya Pieces
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp Tamarind paste
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu:
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash snake gourd and cut into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Pressure cook toor dal, potlakaya pieces along with tomato and green chillies.
  3. Allow it cool for some time and remove the lid and mash it.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry once done add curry leaves and stir.
  5. Add cooked dal mixture, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, inguva and stir.
  6. Now add tamarind paste, salt and add water 1/4 cup of water and mix well.
  7. Let it cook for a couple of mins and turn off the flame, potlakaya pappu is ready.
  8. Take it out in a serving dish and serve, serve with hot rice and rotis.
