Ingredients

  • 1 cup Curd or 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup Chickpeas
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Paste :
  • 11/2 sp Besan / Chickpeas Flour
  • fistful fresh Coconut Pieces
  • 1/2 sp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 Green Chillies roughly chopped
  • 2"inches Ginger
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak chickpeas overnight and boil them with little salt and water till they become soft and keep aside.
  2. Grind above paste ingredients to a smooth paste with enough water, take the buttermilk in a bowl add salt, ground paste and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a sauce pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chillies, chopped onion and stir.
  4. Cook until the onions are tender add cooked chickpeas, turmeric powder and fry for 1 min, then add mixed buttermilk, red chilli powder and mix it well.
  5. Let it boil for some time, when done remove from the flame, transfer into a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
  6. Senagala majjiga pulusu/Chole Kadhi is ready to serve, serve hot with white rice.
