Rice Rava Moong Dal Pongal / Rava Moong Dal Khichdi

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice Rava
  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Green Chilies finely chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 cups Water
  • For Popu :
  • 1 sp crushed Black Pepper
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • few Cashews
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • Curry Leaves
  • 4 sp Ghee+Oil

Instructions

  1. Clean, wash moong dal well, add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
  2. Once done turn off the flame and allow it cool for a couple of minutes.
  3. After that remove the lid and mash the cooked dal.
  4. Add turmeric powder, salt, 3 cups of water and let it boil.
  5. Once the water starts boiling add the rice rava and stir well.
  6. Cover and cook on low flame for 5- 6 mins, until rice rava is well cooked.
  7. Heat ghee+oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  8. When done add fried popu to cooked pongal and mix well.
  9. Now rava pongali is ready to serve, serve hot with chutney.
