Spicy Mint Powder / Pudina Karam Podi / Spicy Pudina Karam
Ingredients
- 1 Bunch Pudina/Mint Leaves
- 5 Red Chillies
- 1 sp Coriander Seeds
- 1/4 sp Black Pepper
- 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 sp Chana Dal
- 1 sp Urad Dal
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 1/4 sp Oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash pudina leaves thoroughly and let the water drain out, then pat them dry with a cloth.
- Once dry, heat a pan add mint leaves and stir-fry for 1 min on medium flame, once done remove from the pan.
- Add in red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black pepper and dry roast until light brown in color and take them out in a plate.
- Now add oil to the same pan and add chana dal, urad dal and stir-fry till golden brown then remove from heat and allow it cool.
- Once cooled grind them into a coarse powder along with salt and garlic cloves, now spicy mint/pudina powder is ready, store it in an airtight container.
- Serve pudina karam with plain rice and also be served with breakfast items like idly, dosa, upma and pongal.
