Gutti Kakarakaya Kura / Stuffed Bitter Gourd / Stuffed Karela

Ingredients

  • 8 nos Bitter Gourd/Kakarakayalu
  • 4 sp Gram Flour/Besan
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds/Jeera
  • 1/4 sp Ajwain Seeds/Vamu
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Take small type of karela/kakarakayalu and wash well. Then make vertical slits and cook the karela with enough salt and drain them and allow it to cool.
  2. Take a bowl add besan, salt, ajwain seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, 1 sp oil and mix well, now the stuffing is ready.
  3. Once cooled stuff each bitter gourd with the besan stuffing, heat oil in a wide pan place the kakarakayalu and shallow fry in medium heat.
  4. Changing the sides carefully and cook them till brown in color.
  5. When done remove from flame and transfer into a serving bowl, now gutti kakarakayalu/stuffed karelas are ready to serve.
