Alasandalu Masala Dal / Lobia Masala Dal / Dal with Black Eyed Peas
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Alasandalu/Bobbarlu
- 1/2 cup Urad Dal
- 2 Tomatoes chopped finely
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 1/2 sp Ginger Garlic paste
- 1/2 sp Garam Masala
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 pinch Turmeric powder
- 1/2 sp Red Chilli powder
- 1 pinch Hing
- 1 cup Milk
- 3 sp Oil
- Salt
- Coriander leaves
- Curry leaves
Instructions
- Wash and soak black eyed peas overnight or at least for 5 or 6 hours.
- Soak urad dal for 2 hours, wash them and pressure cook and keep aside.
- Heat oil in pan add cumin seeds and fry for 1 min then add ginger garlic paste.
- Add chopped onions, curry leaves and stir-fry till the onions turn soft.
- then add chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- Now add cooked dal, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, high and mix well.
- Let it cook for a few mins on medium flame, add milk, garam masala and mix it well.
- Cook on low flame for 2 mins and then turn off the flame, transfer into a serving bowl.
- Garnish with chopped onion and coriander leaves, now alasandala masala dal is ready to serve, serve with puri or chapathi.
