Amaranth Leaves Dal with Moong Dal/Thotakura Pesara Pappu-Dal Recipes
Ingredients
- 1 small cup Moong Dal
- 1 cup chopped Amaranth Leaves/Thotakura
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 1 Tomato chopped
- 1 Green Chilli chopped
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- small marble size Tamarind
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Red Chilli
- 3 Crushed Garlic
- Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil

Instructions
- Wash moong dal in a small pressure cooker and add thotakura and above ingredients except salt and Pressure cook with 11/2 cup of water for 3 whistles. Once done turn off the heat and allow it cool.
- Add salt and mash well, if needed add 1/2 cup of water and cook on stove top for a couple of mins. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, crushed garlic and fry forĀ 30 secs, then pour over the cooked dal and mix well. Now amaranth dal with moong dal/thotakura pesara pappu is ready. Serve with rice or roti.
