Bhindi Bhaji / Okra Thick Stew / Bendakaya Mudda Pulusu - How to make Bhindi Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped Bhindi/Okra/Ladys Finger
  • small Marble sized Tamarind
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Jaggery (optional)
  • 1 sp Rice Flour
  • enough Salt
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • few Curry Leaves
  • chopped Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped okra, onion, green chillies, tomato,tamarind and cook along with 11/2 cup of water for 2 mins.
  2. Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, jaggery and cook until done.
  3. Mix rice flour with little water and add in cooked bhindi gravy and mix well.
  4. Continue to cook for a couple of mins, then add chopped coriander leaves and mix, then turn off the flame.
  5. Heat oil in a small frying pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add it to prepared bhindi bhaji and mix well.
  6. Now okra bhaji/lady finger stew is ready, transfer into a serving bowl, it goes well with both rice and roti.
