Chamadumpala Ulli Karam / Taro Root Onion Fry / Arbi Onion Curry

Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg Chamadumpalu/Taro root
  • 2 Onion roughly chopped
  • 1/4 sp Cumin seeds
  • 11/2 sp Red Chilli powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 sp Oil
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash and cook chamadumpalu and let it cool for a few mins. Once done remove the skin and chop them into cubes and keep aside.
  2. In the meantime grind chopped onion, red chilli powder into a course paste and keep aside
  3. Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds and fry for 30 secs. Then add ground onion paste and fry.
  4. Add in turmeric powder and fry until the raw smell goes. Then add chopped chamadumpalu/arbi and stir.
  5. Now add salt, curry leaves and mix it very well. Fry for a couple of mins on low to medium flame, after that turn off the flame
  6. Now Chamadumpala ulli karam kura is ready, garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot rice along with sambar or rasam.
