Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped Chow chow pieces
- 1/2 cup Moong Dal
- 2 Green Chillies slit lenghwise
- 1 Tomato finely chopped
- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 2 inches Tamarind Flake
- 3 crushed Garlic Cloves
- 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- Salt to taste
For Popu :
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- 1 pinch Hing
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil
Instructions
Wash moong dal in a bowl and add chopped seema vankaya, green chillies, chopped tomato and cook with 1 cup of water for 3 whistles. Once done turn off the heat and allow it cool. When done remove the lid and add tamarind flake and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once fry add crushed garlic and fry for a while. Add the chopped onion, curry leaves and saute it for a couple of mins and then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and stir.
Now add mashed dal mixture and mix well, add 1/2 cup of water, salt and let it cook for about 5 mins on low-medium flame. Now chow chow dal with moong dal/semavankaya pesara pappu is ready. Turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl and serve with rice or roti.
