Coconut Chana Dal Curry / Kobbari Senaga Pappu Kura / Chana Dal Porial

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated Fresh Coconut
  • 1/8 cup Chana Dal
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped lengthwise
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Urad Dal
  • 2 Red Chillies crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chana dal for 20 mins and cook them on stove top till 3/4 done, once done strain them and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chillies and fry for 30 secs.
  2. Then add grated coconut, turmeric powder and mix well, sprinkle a little water and stir well, cover and cook on low flame for a couple of mins. Then add cooked chana dal, salt and mix it well, cook on low flame with a lid for a min, stir occasionally to avoid burning.
  3. After that turn off the heat and transfer into a serving bowl, now coconut chana dal curry is ready to serve, serve hot with rice.
