Sun Dried Mango Dal Recipe / Mamidi Varugu Pappu / Mamidikaya Orugulu Pappu
Ingredients
- 1 cup Toor Dal
- 1/4 cup Dried Mango Pieces/Varugulu
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- 2 Green Chillies chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 sp Urad Dal
- 1 pinch Hing
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- Coriander Leaves
- Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil

Instructions
- Wash and soak the sun dried mango pieces in a bowl and keep aside. Wash the toor dal, green chillies and place in a bowl.
- Pressure cook them separately, once done remove the lid and keep aside.
- Mash the cooked mango pieces and add it to the cooked dal and mix thoroughly. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves.
- Then add cooked dal mixture, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and cook. Add coriander leaves and stir well. Let it cook for a couple of mins, after that turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl. Now mamidikaya varugu pappu is ready to serve, serve with rice and roties.
For Varugu : Wash and peel the skin of raw mango and cut into thin strips.keep the mango strips in a plate and keep it out in the sun to dry. These strips turn dry and a bit wheatish in color and store them in a jar.

sorry for the delay…. process for varugulu is as follows.
1. peel the raw mangoes and chop into thin slices.
2. dry the sliced pieces in sun light for 3-4 days until its totally dried.
