Bellam Kajalu Recipe/Diamond Kajalu with Jaggery-how to make Bellam Kajalu
Ingredients
- 1 cup All purpose flour/Maida
- 1 cup grated Jaggery
- little Salt
- Oil for deep fry
Instructions
- In a bowl combine maida, little salt, enough water and make a chapati dough and keep aside with cover for 30 mins.
- Take a large lemon sized ball of the dough and roll it into a flat chapati, then cut it into small diamonds using a knife, finish the rest of the dough and keep aside
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the diamonds until light golden brown, take away from the hot oil and set aside.
- Now boil a cup of water and add jaggery into it and make a thick syrup like 'vundapakam'.
- Switch of the flame and add fried kajalu in it, mix well and pour on a wide plate, let it cool for some time.
- Bellam kajalu are ready to servet and store them in an airtight container.
