Yellow Cucumber Masala Curry Recipe / Dosakaya Masala Kura

  • 1 medium size Dosakaya/Yellow Cucumber
  • 1 big Onion chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Powder :
  • 1 sp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 sp Dry Coconut Powder
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 crocked Red Chilli
  • chopped Corinder leaves
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash, peel off the dosakaya and cut into quarters, then deseeded and chop into small pieces.
  2. Heat a pan add coriander seeds and dry roast for a while, remove from flame and add coconut powder, garlic to coriander seeds and grind into a fine powder.
  3. Heat 2 sp oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, when they splutter add curry leaves, green chillies and onions.
  4. Saute onions until translucent, now add chopped tomato and stir, cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 2 mins.
  5. Then add dosakaya mukkalu, turmeric powder, salt and stir. Sprinkle little water and mix well, cook on low flame with cover.
  6. Once done add red chilli powder, ground masala powder and mix well till the curry gets well coated with the powder, continue to cook on low flame with a lid for one min.
  7. After that turn off the heat and transfer into a serving bowl, now dosakaya masala curry is ready, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
