Munakkaya Pappu / Dal With Drumstick Pulp / Mulakkada Pappu
Ingredients
- 1 small cup Toor Dal
- 2 no Drumsticks/Munakkayalu
- 1 Tomato chopped
- 2 Green Chillies chopped
- 2 sp Tamarind Pulp
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 sp Sambar Powder
- 2 no Garlic Cloves (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- 1 pinch Hing
- chopped Coriander Leaves
- Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil

Instructions
- Wash cut drumsticks into 3 inches pieces and boil them in water till soft, then allow it cool, once cooled scrape out the inside pulp carefully with a spoon and keep aside. Don't throw out the leftover water and keep aside.
- In the meantime, pressure cook toor dal along with tomato and green chillies, let it sit for 10 mins. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked dal and stir.
- Then add drumstick pulp, salt, turmeric, red chilli, sambar powders and mix well, now add tamarind pulp, if needed add leftover water and allow it to cook for a couple of mins. Lastly add chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Now tasty tasty drumstick dal is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve, it goes well with rice or roti.
