Patoli Curry Recipe/Sandiga Pindi/Dal Usli - how to make Andhra Style Patoli Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana Dal/Bengal Gram
  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal/Kandi Pappu
  • 4 Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 cup Coconut pieces
  • 2 inches Ginger piece
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Inguva / Asafoetida
  • Curry Leaves
  • 4 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chana dal, toor dal, red chillies in water for 2 hours.
  2. Combine the chana dal, toor dal, red chillies, salt, ginger,coconut pieces and grind into a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, hing stir-fry for few a sec.
  4. Then add the ground paste, turmeric powder and mix well, fry well until the moisture is gone and it becomes into a coarse powder.
  5. Then remove from fire and transfer into a serving dish, now sandiga pindi/patoli curry is ready to serve.
  6. Serve with hot rice along with sambar and papad.
