Bottle Gourd and Raw Mango Dal Recipe / Sorakaya Mamidikaya Pappu - no Onion no Garlic

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Toor Dal
  • 2 cups Bottle Gourd Pieces
  • 1/4 cup Raw Mango Pieces
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli Crocked
  • 1 pinch Hingu
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Combine bottle gourd, mango, green chillie pieces, toor dal and pressure cook for 4 whistles. Allow it cool, once cooled remove the lid and mash well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked dal mixture and stir well. Now add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
  3. Continue to cook for a couple of mins, then turn off the flame. Now sorakaya mamidikaya pappu is ready and serve, serve hot with rice and rotis.
