Sweet Potato Dal / Chilagadadumpa Pappu

  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 2 nos Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 Green Chillies Chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 pinch Hingh
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli Crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash, peel and cut sweet potato into small cubes.
  2. Wash toor dal and pressure cook along with green chillies & sweet potato.
  3. When it cool remove the lid and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry for 2 mins.
  5. When they splutter add curry leaves, cooked dal & stir.
  6. Add salt, turmeric powder and cook on low flame for a couple of mins.
  7. Now chilagadadumpa pappu is ready, turn off the flame.
  8. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve with hot rice and pickle.
