Toor Dal Onion Chutney / Ullipaya Kandi Pachadi / Arhar Dal and Onion Chutney

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Toor Dal
  • 1/2 small lime size Tamarind
  • 1 Onion roughly chopped
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 4 Red Chilles
  • 1 sp Ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 crocked Red Chilli
  • 1 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan add toor dal, red chillies and fry on low flame. Saute them until golden brown in color then remove from the pan and allow it to cool.
  2. Once cooled grind the fried toor dal mixture along with cumin seeds, tamarind, salt by adding enough water into a coarse paste.
  3. Now add chopped onion and grind it slightly, then transfer into a serving bowl. Heat oil in a pan add popu and fry, once done add it to ground chutney. Now toor dal onion chutney/ullipaya kandi pachadi is ready to serve, serve with hot rice and ghee.
