    For Undrallu :
  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • 11/2 cup Water
  • 1 sp Ghee
  • For Payasam :
  • fistful Chana Dal
  • 1 small cup grated Jaggery
  • 1 small cup Milk
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • few Coconut Pieces
  • 2 sp Cashew Nut Pieces
  • 2 sp Raisins
  • 2 sp Ghee


  1. Put water in a bowl add ghee into it and bring it to a boil, once it starts boiling reduce the flame then add the rice flour gradually and mix well, turn off the flame and allow it to cool with cover.
  2. When done, knead it well and make small sized balls from the dough as shown in the picture bellow. Now undrallu/rice balls are ready for payasam/kheer. In the meantime wash chana dal and pressure cook for 2 whistles and keep aside.
  3. Boil jaggery with 1/2 cup of water on medium flame in a bowl, once the jaggery melts completely, then filter it to remove impurities and again boil, now add in prepared rice balls and cook them for a couple of mins.
  4. Then add cooked chana dal, elaichi powder and stir-cook for 2-3 mins on low flame, now another heat fry dry fruits in ghee.
  5. Lastly add fried dry fruits, milk and mix every thing well, keep on low flame for 1 min with stirring, turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl. Now undrallu chana dal payasam/kheer is ready as naivedyam for Lord Ganesha. serve this kheer warm or cool.
