Watermelon Rind Mango Dal / Watermelon Flesh Mamidikaya Pappu
Ingredients
- 1 small cup Toor Dal
- 1 cup chopped Watermelon white rind
- 1/4 cup chopped Raw Mango
- 2 Green Chillies chopped
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 sp Sambar Powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 pinch Hing
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- few chopped Coriander Leaves
- few Curry Leaves
- 2 sp Oil

Instructions
- Wash and cut watermelon into big chunks, then remove all the red parts and keep aside. Do not throw away the rind of watermelon. Peel the green outer skin from the white rind and cut the rind into 1/2 inch cubes. Combine and pressure cook toor dal, watermelon rind, chopped green chillies and mango pieces. let it sit for 10 mins.
- Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked dal mixture and stir. Then add salt, turmeric, red chilli, sambar powders and mix well, allow it to cook for a couple of mins. Lastly add chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Now tasty tasty watermelon rind dal is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve with rice or roti.
