Ingredients

  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 2 sp Rice flour
  • 1 cup grated Jaggery
  • 1/4 cup grated Dry Coconut / Copra
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 sp Ghee
  • Oil for deep fry

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, rice flour, grated coconut, elaichi powder and mix well, keep aside.
  2. Boil water and add jaggery into it and boil, once the jaggery dissolved filter it and remove the dust particles.
  3. Again boil the syrup and make it slightly thick, then add the wheat flour mix, ghee and mix well like a dough and remove from the heat.
  4. Let it cool for some time, knead the dough and make it into small lime size balls and set aside.
  5. Heat oil in khadai, shape the balls into small vadas and fry them two or three at a time till brown in color.
  6. Remove from the oil and drain them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  7. Now wheat flour coconut appalu are ready for naivedyam. It's very soft and tasty.
