Yellow Cucumber Dal With Moong Dal / Dosakaya Pesara Pappu

  • 1 small cup Moong Dal
  • 1 cup chopped Yellow Cucumber Pieces
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • 2 sp Oil
  • few Curry Leaves
  • few chopped Coriander Leaves


  1. Wash moong dal and soak for 5 mins and keep aside, in a bowl add chopped yellow cucumber, chopped tomato, green chillies and tamarind.
  2. Pressure cook moong dal, cucumber pieces in two separate bowls and leave it to cool, then remove the lid and combine the cooked moong dal & dosakaya mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked dosakaya moong dal mixture and stir well.
  4. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix it well, add chopped coriander leaves and cook for a couple of mins on medium flame.
  5. Now dosakaya pesara pappu is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot with rice or roti.
