Sorakaya Pesara Curry / Bottle Gourd Moong Dal Curry / Anapakaya Pesara Curry

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bottle Gourd pieces/Sorakaya Mukkalu
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal/Pesara Pappu
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • Few fresh Coconut Pieces
  • 3 Green Chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and half cook pesara pappu/moong dal, then strain and keep aside.
  2. Grind coconut and green chillies into a coarse powder not paste(with out water) wash, peel sorakaya and cut into small pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients & fry, once done add curry leaves, bottle gourd pieces and stir.
  4. Add turmeric powder, salt and mix well, sprinkle little water and cook on low flame with cover.
  5. When the curry is done add cooked moong dal and stir-fry for 2 mins.
  6. Now add ground coconut mixture and stir well till the curry gets well coated with the coconut mixture.
  7. Continue to cook on low flame for a couple of mins, now sorakaya pesara curry is ready, turn off the heat and transfer into a serving bowl, serve with hot white rice.
