Ridge Gourd Thick Stew Recipe / Birakaya Mudda Pulusu / Beerakaya Pulusu

Ingredients

  • 2cups chopped Ridge Gourd/Beerakaya
  • 1 big Onion chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes chopped
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped
  • 2" Tamarind Flake
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli powder
  • 1 sp grated Jaggery/Sugar (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl place ridge gourd pieces, chopped onion, tomatoes, green chillies and pressure cook along with tamarind.
  2. Once done turn off the flame and allow it cool, Once cooled remove the lid and mash it well.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked ridge gourd mixture and mix well.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, jaggery and stir well, cook for a couple of mins, then turn off the heat and transfer into a serving bowl.
  5. Now tasty and spicy ridge gourd thick stew is ready, serve hot with rice or roti.
