Coconut Purnalu Recipe / Kobbari Burelu / Coconut Purnam Burelu

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh Grated Coconut
  • 11/2 cup grated Jaggery
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • Oil for deep fry
  • For Batter:
  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 pinch Salt

Instructions

  1. Wash well rice+urad dal and soak 2 hours, after that make it a paste like thick dosa batter add little salt and keep aside.
  2. Take a microwave safe bowl add grated jaggery, coconut, elaichi powder and mix well.
  3. Place the bowl in microwave and set the time for 3 mins, keep checking in between and stir well and again set the time for 3 mins, mix well and plug off.
  4. Let it leaves the bowl in the oven for 1 more minute, after that take the bowl out and make small lemon sized balls. Now coconut stuffing is ready.
  5. Heat a pan with enough oil for deep fry, once hot dip the coconut balls in the batter and gently drop them into the hot oil and fry.
  6. Fry them until golden brown, once done take them out and place on to a paper towel to drain excess oil. Repeat the same with the remaining coconut stuffing. Now festival recipe coconut purnalu/kobbari burelu are ready for naivedyam.
