Coconut Sesame Modak Recipe/Kobbari Nuvvula Modakalu–How to make coconut sesame Modak – Festival Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Fresh Grated Coconut
  • 1/4 cup Sesame Seeds
  • 1 cup Grated Jaggery
  • 1/2 sp Elaichi Powder
  • 2 sp Ghee for mould greasing

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the sesame seeds in a pan for five mins on low-medium flame, once the sesame seeds turns light brown in color, then remove from the heat and leave to cool completely. Once cooled grind them into powder.
  2. In the meantime, boil water and add jaggery into it and boil, once the jaggery is completely dissolved, filter it and remove the dust particles. Again boil the syrup and make it slightly thick, then add grated coconut and stir well.
  3. Add elaichi powder and stir it continuously until it thickens, then add ground sesame powder and mix everything well, keep on low flame for 1 min then remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  4. Once cooled, mix the coconut-sesame mixture thoroughly with your hand. Grease little ghee to modak mould, take small portion of the coconut mixture and insert into the mould, open the mould carefully and remove the modak, set aside and continue shaping all the modak This is a very popular recipe served as naivedyam to Lord Ganesh during Vinayaka Chavithi festival.
