Nuvvula Kajjikayalu/Coconut Kajjikayalu-Traditional Andhra Sweet

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour/Maida Pindi
  • 1 cup grated Dry Coconut/Endu Kobbari Podi
  • 1/2 cup Roasted white Nuvvulu
  • 1/4 cup Raisins/Endu Draksha
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • Oil for deep fry

Instructions

  1. Make a soft dough of all purpose flour with little salt and enough water, keep aside for 10 mins.
  2. Mix coconut, nuvvulu, elaichi powder, raisins, sugar and keep aside, now stuffing is ready.
  3. Knead the dough well and make small balls and keep aside, take one ball and roll out into a small thin puri and place on kajjikayala mould.
  4. Apply wet the edges of the puri with a cotton piece and place 1 sp coconut mixture and fold it carefully.
  5. Prepare all kajjikayalu do the same and cover with a damp cloth or a paper.
  6. Heat oil in a khadai and fry them like  golden brown in color, when done remove from the pan and place them on a paper towel.
  7. Now nuvvulu kajjikayalu are ready to serve, once cooled store them in an airtight container.
