Ven Pongal Recipe / Pappu pongali / Khara Pongali / Katte Pongali
Ingredients
- 1 cup Rice
- 1/2 cup Moong Dal/Pesara Pappu
- 1 sp Pepper powder
- 1/4 sp Whole Pepper Corns
- 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1 pinch Hing
- few Cashew Nuts
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 5 sp Oil + Ghee
Instructions
- Dry roast moong dal on low to medium flame until you feel the aroma, transfer to rice bowl and wash well. Then pressure cook with 5 cups of water up to 3 whistles. Let the cooker cool remove the lid add salt to the pongal and mix well.
- Fry oil + ghee in a pan add cumin seeds, pepper powder, pepper corns, inguva and fry for a while. Then add cashew nuts, curry leaves and fry. Turn of the heat and pour the fried cashew mix to the pongal and mix well.
- Now pappu pongal/ven pongal is ready to serve, serve with coconut chutney.
