Spicy Idly Karam Powder with Flax Seeds / Spicy Aviseginjala Karam Podi

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Urad Dal
  • 1/2 small cup Chana Dal
  • 2 sp White Sesame Seeds
  • 2 sp Flax Seeds
  • 2 inches Tamarind Flake
  • 10 Red Chillies
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • 1/2 sp Sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast sesame seeds till a nice aroma comes out.
  2. Then transfer the toasted sesame seeds to a plate and let them cool.
  3. Add flax seeds to the same pan and fry, once done remove from the pan.
  4. Fry the dals separately with little oil until it turns golden brown and transfer into the plate.
  5. In the same pan fry red chillies, curry leaves separately until done.
  6. Grind above fried ingredients along with salt, sugar, hing and tamarind into a coarse powder.
  7. Now spicy tasty idly karam podi is ready to serve, serve along with a dollop of ghee.
